This is Ham Yang Ah's (b.1968) solo exhibition at Art Sonje Center, presenting a comprehensive survey of her long-term research project of the same name, ongoing since 2018. Tracing the trajectory of human history from the emergence of neoliberalism in the late 1970s through the expansion of globalization and financial capital, the digital revolution, and up to the recent pandemic and climate crisis, the exhibition retraces what narratives humanity has built up and torn down along the way.
While the nineteenth-century Western panorama offered an experience of surveying the world from a single vantage point, Ham Yang Ah's panorama stands in contrast — revealing that today's intricately entangled world can never be grasped through a single gaze.
